THE LEGEND OF ZELDA REVIEW (+ HOMEBREW CHALLENGE)

Εικόνα
After finishing the Main Quest of Age of Calamity, I’ve laid my Nintendo Switch Controller to rest this week and since our beloved franchise turned 35 years old a few days ago, I decided to take a trip back to the past and replay – once again – the original title. To make it even more challenging I decided to add a new homebrew challenge I called “Hero’s Challenge for Original LoZ”. I also played a “remastered” version through one beloved application called “Zelda Classic”. In this PC application you can play the original Zelda game, but also remastered versions of it or fan-made Quests, with some of them being really good. The remastered version I played, was with GC graphics, with the textures looking a lot like the Oracle Games. You can download Zelda classic here (https://www.zeldaclassic.com/) Now let’s jump into my opinion of the game that started it all, with my usual pros and cons list. The things I liked about the game: 1. I really love the freedom this 35 ye...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: AGE OF CALAMITY REVIEW

Εικόνα
I finished recently the Main Quest of Age of Calamity and as always I would like to express my opinion on the new Zelda experience that Nintendo offered us. For the ones that live under a rock with a Korok, it’s not a regular Zelda game, but a Hyrule Warriors title, with a lot of hack and slash, battlefields and lots of Champions to choose from. So if you remember my Hyrule Warriors Legends review – if you don’t look it up on my blog – I really love warfare in the Zelda Universe and seeing a Breath of the Wild prequel like that, made me so hyped about owning and playing that game. So after finishing the Main Quest let’s move into the review about the things I liked and the things that I would change. First about the things that I liked about the game: 1. This one is a given. I love fantasy warfare, the battles were amazing and the whole “war atmosphere” was right there. So if you at least liked Hyrule Warriors then you will LOVE Age of Calamity. 2. The storyline is gr...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: WAND OF GAMELON REVIEW

Εικόνα
A few days before, I uploaded a review after playing my first ever CDi Zelda game, “Faces of Evil”. Of course I played the remastered version, created for the PC which fixes a few of the problems the original had. To be specific the remastered version has: 1. More polished graphics 2. Better controls (You can use a pc or an xbox controller and configure the controls of the game). 3. Unlimited continues, making death less annoying than the original game. 4. A hintbox method you have on your controller, so you will never be misguided. 5. A hero’s mode that you can play after finishing the Quest in Normal mode.   To be fair I can’t say many things that I liked or disliked, like I do to most of my reviews just because, Wand of Gamelon was the exact same game with Faces of Evil, with a few differences here and there. If you want to know my likes and dislikes on this game visit this link ( https://greeklinkscorner.blogspot.com/2021/01/legend-of-zelda-faces-of-evi...

ΤΗΕ LEGEND OF ZELDA: FACES OF EVIL REVIEW

Εικόνα
Well, I’ll be honest with you. I always wanted to play the “Zelda CDi” games. I was always intrigued of how many bad things were said about those games. When I found out last week that there is a remastered version for them for the PC, I was thrilled. I literally, stopped working and started downloading those games on my laptop. If someone wants to download them, here is the link you can visit ( https://archive.org/details/foer-wogr-patched-12-9-20 ) Before starting the review of the game I should mention what are some of the more important improvements that the remastered version of the games offer to the players. 1. More polished graphics 2. Better controls (You can use a pc or an xbox controller and configure the controls of the game). 3. Unlimited continues, making death less annoying than the original game. 4. A hintbox method you have on your controller, so you will never be misguided. 5. A hero’s mode that you can play after finishing the Quest in Normal mo...

ECONOMICAL ANALYSIS OF THE ZELDA UNIVERSE

Εικόνα
This subject, is something that has come to my mind for the last few weeks, re-playing some of the older games and the new releases of Cadence of Hyrule and of course Age of Calamity, I would like to get to the Economy of the countries in the Legend of Zelda Universe. For scale we will use the maximum amount of Rupees our hero can hold in each and every game. We will start from the first game that we actually have an established Hyrule Kingdom (so Skyward Sword is out), where the maximum amount of Hyrulean Rupees is 999, let’s call it 1.000 so it will be easier for us in the future references. So in the Newly established Hyrule, 1.000 Rupees is a great amount of money, making the holder of them, as rich as they can get. Some years later, in Ocarina of Time, the richest Hyrulean can hold 500 Rupees. This means that a person can carry half the amount of Rupees compared to the Minish Cap Hyrule. So what does that mean? It means that with the prosperity of Hyrule and the ...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: CADENCE OF HYRULE REVIEW

To be honest I’ve waited so long for the physical release. I know this game is not a new one, but I didn’t play it while it was released in its digital form. I like game boxes and I like collecting Zelda stuff, so I told myself to wait, it’s not like it was a main Zelda title. So yeah, I pre-ordered the game, it arrived to my home last Friday and between, work, social life and the whole pandemic thing going on, I managed to finish the main story today. So I present you my opinion of the main game after I completed it, starting with… Things that I liked about the game: 1. The whole graphic design of the game is befitting to the Zelda Series, it is like a more polished GBA game and let’s be honest, Minish Cap’s graphics were really good for a handheld game. 2. The random generated world, gives the game huge replay value. 3. The whole overworld is great, with very nice battles and overworld bosses that will reward you with Rupees, Diamonds or even main equipment like the...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE CARTOON SERIES – GREAT IDEAS AND EXECUTIONS

Εικόνα
We can all agree that the late ‘80s Legend of Zelda Cartoon, is cheesy and it has nothing to provide to the fans of today, since it was just a generic, Sunday morning cartoon, with lame script. Is this 100% correct though? Yes the script is silly-written and the main villain, Ganon is the most stupid villain of all time, buuuut… it has some ideas that can be appreciated even today.   NUMBER 1 – The Music The music of the Legend of Zelda cartoon series is great. It took the songs of the first two Zelda games (the only Zelda games that had been released when the cartoon aired) and orchestrated them in a great way, that I love to hear even today after 30 years. I urge you to watch an episode, and really focus on the music part, you will be amazed.   NUMBER 2 – The Magic Pouch Every time you play a Zelda game, you think “Where does Link keep all these items? A bow, a hookshot, a hammer, a boomerang, a magic cane, even a freaking ball and chain”. The cartoon se...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: EXTENDED TIMELINE THEORY

Εικόνα
First of all I want to add, that this theory is standing on my expirience of the games and some facts I found around the internet from fans that I agreed on and it is combined with the official timeline that Nintendo has offered over the years. Let’s get into the additions:   The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link (Story #1 in the Child Era) This fan-made game, doesn’t need any explanation why it's there. If you have played it, you know. If you haven’t, PLAY IT.   The Legend of Zelda: Dawn and Dusk (Story #3 in the Child Era) Another fan-made game, that takes place in a forgotten kingdom that is far away from Hyrule. Link in that story isn't the recarnation of the Hero but a descendant of a Prince of that land. I put it there because it fits in the whole "Dark vibe" there is in "Child Era" after Hero of Time visited Termina, or the Dark Hyrule of the Twilight Princess but really it could fit anywhere to be honest.   The Legend of Zelda: Hy...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST REVIEW (+ HOMEBREW CHALLENGE)

Εικόνα
Recently, I’ve replayed The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but with a homebrew challenge (read it after the Review) and I can say, I really enjoyed finishing the game once again. Note: I played the GBA version, on my DS. Playing while taking notes this time, I want once again to put my thoughts on paper and present to you my view of the game (this is my opinion, it doesn’t mean it is the best one out there).   First I want to start with the things I liked about the game: 1. Let’s be honest, it’s the game that made Zelda what it is today (well at least what it was until Breath of the Wild). It gave us lore about Hyrule, Ganondorf, Zelda, Triforce, the Gods and even about Link. 2. The whole game still has replay value after 30 years of its original release. The graphics are smooth for a 16-bit game, the music is amazing, the whole video game experience is at its top. 3. Great dungeon design. Let’s be honest, A Link to the Past has 11 dungeons, making them ...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD REVIEW

Εικόνα
Well hello. Huge Zelda fan here, with a collection of every single game, manga and book here. I love Zelda lore, I love Zelda's Universe and their history behind. I played BOTW last year due to some problems I had that didn't let me buy the console and the game the moment it came out. But it eventually it worked out.   The whole feeling that I was left with was .... meh.   I'm not saying it's a bad game by any means, I'm just saying it's not Zelda. It was an open-world mediocre adventure with Zelda skin.   I know many will not accept my way of thinking but listen to this. Zelda was always innovative. Bringing new style of play to every game and never was afraid as a franchise to take a risk and change the whole game from the last one. This was a thing from the early years of the franchise. The Legend of Zelda in 1986 was an overhead openworld adventure, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was a sidescrolling RPG for the most time. Ocarina of Time w...
