THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: WAND OF GAMELON REVIEW

A few days before, I uploaded a review after playing my first ever CDi Zelda game, “Faces of Evil”. Of course I played the remastered version, created for the PC which fixes a few of the problems the original had.

To be specific the remastered version has:

1. More polished graphics

2. Better controls (You can use a pc or an xbox controller and configure the controls of the game).

3. Unlimited continues, making death less annoying than the original game.

4. A hintbox method you have on your controller, so you will never be misguided.

5. A hero’s mode that you can play after finishing the Quest in Normal mode.

To be fair I can’t say many things that I liked or disliked, like I do to most of my reviews just because, Wand of Gamelon was the exact same game with Faces of Evil, with a few differences here and there.

If you want to know my likes and dislikes on this game visit this link (https://greeklinkscorner.blogspot.com/2021/01/legend-of-zelda-faces-of-evil-review.html)

So what I want to say in this review, may be an unpopular opinion.

Well here it goes…

I kind of enjoyed the CDi Zelda games. There I said it.

They are casual sidescrollers, trying to expand the lore of the fantasy world by 1993 standards. Yes, they are the worst games of the franchise, but they can be finished in 1 or 2 hours. So it’s not like you spent 30 or 40 hours questing for something that awful.

I really think that hating on those games is just a trend, because I actually enjoyed having a drink and finishing those games in one sitting and I will try the Hero’s mode in the future.

Closing, I would like to say, that in today’s gaming we have Grand Quests that can be finished in hundreds of hours like Breath of the Wild or even Age of Calamity, but for a gamer in his late 20s – like me – or in his 30s, it’s really fun to take a trip to the past and play some games, that remind you what Questing in a fantasy land – even at a bad fantasy game as the CDi Zelda games – used to be in the simpler days.

At the end of the game, my Quest Log was looking like:

6 Hearts

27 Deaths

Sword: Magic Sword Lv2

Shield: Mirror Shield

Items: Ropes, Bread, Bombs, Power Glove, Flute, Fairy Latern, Magic Cape, Latern Oil, Wand of Gamelon, Bottle

Treasure: Arpagos Egg, Arpagos Feather, Fairy Dust, Hanyu Spore, Heat Crystal, Cloak

Rupees: 411
