THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: EXTENDED TIMELINE THEORY (UPDATED) – CADENCE OF HYRULE PLACEMENT
Here we are again. Theorizing
and adding new – even fanmade – stories of the Zelda franchise into a
chronological order.
This post, is created so it
can fix my older one (look it up on my blog if you want) from the wrong Cadence
of Hyrule placement on the extended timeline.
After playing the game myself,
I think the proper place of this story is after Four Swords and before Ocarina
of Time. “But why?” I hear you ask. Well let’s get to the points that led me to
that conclusion.
The Legend of Zelda: Cadence of Hyrule (Story #4 in the Era of Legend)
In Cadence of Hyrule, the
Hyrule Kingdom isn’t at its glory as we can see it after Ocarina Of Time, in
most of the titles, it looks like it just started building itself like we see
in Minish Cap and in Four Swords. Also monsters roam free on the field, showing
that there is no army and fortifications yet to send monster off the country.
In this game we meet with Deku
Tree, but in the forest are living Deku Scrubs and not Kokiris, meaning that
they were the first occupants of the forest before they moved into the Lost
Woods and eventually in Termina.
One of the biggest things
proving this theory, is meeting teenage Ganondorf. Gerudos are just a Desert
tribe minding their own business so far. Ganondorf is the first male born into
the tribe and you meet him in his room learning to play the organ (the one that
played at Ocarina Of Time). Ganondorf met with Octavio, the “villain” of the
game, and he told him about the magic power of music. A magic power we also see
at the future and the past of Zelda titles (warping songs, healing songs, songs
of awakening etc).
Ganondorf with the magic power
of music he creates a dark future of Hyrule, were he reigns as a Dark Lord in
his Demon form, of course this future never existed since Link, Zelda and
Cadence, traveled through time to defeat him.
In this time-travel, we find
one of the biggest proofs that Cadence of Hyrule is placed before Ocarina of
Time.
In Dark Hyrule Castle, all
heroes find some Legendary weapons for themselves, Link there finds the best
dagger-type weapon of the game, Kokiri Sword. Now remember, Kokiris do not exist – yet
at least – in this version of Hyrule and the description of the weapon as you
get it reads “Said to be intended for a future hero”. The only hero that ever
wields the Kokiri Sword is the Hero of Time, which means that Ganon with the
power of Music created a parallel future that either Hero of Time never existed
or was defeated early on, gaining the Kokiri Sword for himself and keeping it
inside his castle.
So there you have it, Cadence
of Hyrule is a prequel to Ocarina of Time. I know this seems farfetched but
remember this is just my extended theory and it doesn’t mean that you have to
accept it.
Till the next time, be safe
