THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: AGE OF CALAMITY REVIEW

Εικόνα
I finished recently the Main Quest of Age of Calamity and as always I would like to express my opinion on the new Zelda experience that Nintendo offered us. For the ones that live under a rock with a Korok, it’s not a regular Zelda game, but a Hyrule Warriors title, with a lot of hack and slash, battlefields and lots of Champions to choose from. So if you remember my Hyrule Warriors Legends review – if you don’t look it up on my blog – I really love warfare in the Zelda Universe and seeing a Breath of the Wild prequel like that, made me so hyped about owning and playing that game. So after finishing the Main Quest let’s move into the review about the things I liked and the things that I would change. First about the things that I liked about the game: 1. This one is a given. I love fantasy warfare, the battles were amazing and the whole “war atmosphere” was right there. So if you at least liked Hyrule Warriors then you will LOVE Age of Calamity. 2. The storyline is gr...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: EXTENDED TIMELINE THEORY (UPDATED) – CADENCE OF HYRULE PLACEMENT

Here we are again. Theorizing and adding new – even fanmade – stories of the Zelda franchise into a chronological order. This post, is created so it can fix my older one (look it up on my blog if you want) from the wrong Cadence of Hyrule placement on the extended timeline. After playing the game myself, I think the proper place of this story is after Four Swords and before Ocarina of Time. “But why?” I hear you ask. Well let’s get to the points that led me to that conclusion. The Legend of Zelda: Cadence of Hyrule (Story #4 in the Era of Legend) In Cadence of Hyrule, the Hyrule Kingdom isn’t at its glory as we can see it after Ocarina Of Time, in most of the titles, it looks like it just started building itself like we see in Minish Cap and in Four Swords. Also monsters roam free on the field, showing that there is no army and fortifications yet to send monster off the country. In this game we meet with Deku Tree, but in the forest are living Deku Scrubs and not Kokiri...

ECONOMICAL ANALYSIS OF THE ZELDA UNIVERSE

This subject, is something that has come to my mind for the last few weeks, re-playing some of the older games and the new releases of Cadence of Hyrule and of course Age of Calamity, I would like to get to the Economy of the countries in the Legend of Zelda Universe. For scale we will use the maximum amount of Rupees our hero can hold in each and every game. We will start from the first game that we actually have an established Hyrule Kingdom (so Skyward Sword is out), where the maximum amount of Hyrulean Rupees is 999, let’s call it 1.000 so it will be easier for us in the future references. So in the Newly established Hyrule, 1.000 Rupees is a great amount of money, making the holder of them, as rich as they can get. Some years later, in Ocarina of Time, the richest Hyrulean can hold 500 Rupees. This means that a person can carry half the amount of Rupees compared to the Minish Cap Hyrule. So what does that mean? It means that with the prosperity of Hyrule and the ...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: CADENCE OF HYRULE REVIEW

To be honest I’ve waited so long for the physical release. I know this game is not a new one, but I didn’t play it while it was released in its digital form. I like game boxes and I like collecting Zelda stuff, so I told myself to wait, it’s not like it was a main Zelda title. So yeah, I pre-ordered the game, it arrived to my home last Friday and between, work, social life and the whole pandemic thing going on, I managed to finish the main story today. So I present you my opinion of the main game after I completed it, starting with… Things that I liked about the game: 1. The whole graphic design of the game is befitting to the Zelda Series, it is like a more polished GBA game and let’s be honest, Minish Cap’s graphics were really good for a handheld game. 2. The random generated world, gives the game huge replay value. 3. The whole overworld is great, with very nice battles and overworld bosses that will reward you with Rupees, Diamonds or even main equipment like the...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE CARTOON SERIES – GREAT IDEAS AND EXECUTIONS

Εικόνα
We can all agree that the late ‘80s Legend of Zelda Cartoon, is cheesy and it has nothing to provide to the fans of today, since it was just a generic, Sunday morning cartoon, with lame script. Is this 100% correct though? Yes the script is silly-written and the main villain, Ganon is the most stupid villain of all time, buuuut… it has some ideas that can be appreciated even today.   NUMBER 1 – The Music The music of the Legend of Zelda cartoon series is great. It took the songs of the first two Zelda games (the only Zelda games that had been released when the cartoon aired) and orchestrated them in a great way, that I love to hear even today after 30 years. I urge you to watch an episode, and really focus on the music part, you will be amazed.   NUMBER 2 – The Magic Pouch Every time you play a Zelda game, you think “Where does Link keep all these items? A bow, a hookshot, a hammer, a boomerang, a magic cane, even a freaking ball and chain”. The cartoon se...

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST REVIEW (+ HOMEBREW CHALLENGE)

Εικόνα
Recently, I’ve replayed The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but with a homebrew challenge (read it after the Review) and I can say, I really enjoyed finishing the game once again. Note: I played the GBA version, on my DS. Playing while taking notes this time, I want once again to put my thoughts on paper and present to you my view of the game (this is my opinion, it doesn’t mean it is the best one out there).   First I want to start with the things I liked about the game: 1. Let’s be honest, it’s the game that made Zelda what it is today (well at least what it was until Breath of the Wild). It gave us lore about Hyrule, Ganondorf, Zelda, Triforce, the Gods and even about Link. 2. The whole game still has replay value after 30 years of its original release. The graphics are smooth for a 16-bit game, the music is amazing, the whole video game experience is at its top. 3. Great dungeon design. Let’s be honest, A Link to the Past has 11 dungeons, making them ...
